Introduction:
Professor Roller defines an adverse drug reaction (ADR), and specifies the factors that can increase the likelihood of the occurrence of an ADR. He identifies the categories of ADR and outlines the symptoms, side effects and methods of intervention for each one. The types of medicines that are most often associated with a particular ADR are discussed. Professor Roller dispels the myth that natural or complementary remedies are not subject to side effects or adverse reactions.

About the Speaker:
Honorary Associate Professor Louis Roller joined the Victorian College of Pharmacy (now named; The Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia) in 1963. He was variously the Associate Dean Teaching (1992-2006) of the Faculty and Head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice (1992-2001) and Director of the Pharmacy Program until his retirement in December 2008. He has served on the Pharmacy Board of Victoria for 22 years and has contributed to various editions of the Australian Pharmaceutical Formulary Handbook and the Therapeutic Guidelines Antibiotic and Oral & Dental.

A very interesting and informative lecture. Covers a whole range of drugs and medicines and explains the difference between drugs and medicines which i found very interesting and i am sure it will be stuck in my head for a very long time. Well worth watching.
