Author: Aurora Cyganik-Barker Aurora Cyganik-Barker, RN, BN is a degree-educated Registered Nurse, who graduated in 2007 with distinction from the University of Calgary. She is currently living and working in Western Canada. Aurora worked as an undergraduate nurse for 2 years while completing her nursing degree in the geriatric assessment unit at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital under geriatricians Dr. Sahiholnasab and Dr. Villaneueva. Her experience has a wide range including working in emergency and the cardiac/ICU step-down unit at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for 2 years. She also worked during this time at Bow Island Hospital, a rural hospital, where she divided her time between a 10 bed acute wing, a 20 bed long term care wing and a busy outpatient/emergency department. She very recently moved into a Primary Care role in a single physician’s office, concentrating on chronic disease management and prevention. Although chronic disease management is her latest passion, she also has a special love for geriatrics, and has the opportunity to work with many older adults in her current position. She is also a certified massage therapist, Reiki master and has a special interest in alternative and complementary therapies.
Reviewer: Susan Veals Susan Veals (formerly Susan Veals Onrust) is originally from New York, New York, USA, where she earned a PhD in oncology and immunology from New York University Medical Center's Sackler Institute in 1992. Susan then completed an American Cancer Society postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco, California, USA, before moving to Auckland, New Zealand in 1996. In Auckland, she worked as a staff medical writer of pharmaceutical reviews for Adis International, Ltd. (a division of Wolters Kluwer Health) while completing a Bachelor of Nursing at UNITEC Institute of Technology. She relocated to Seattle, Washington, USA in 2002, and now works as a freelance medical writer and staff RN in psychiatry. |
