Diabetes Mellitus: Pathophysiological Cardio-Vascular ChangeThis lecture describes the pathophysiological changes that can occur in the cardio-vascular system of a person with diabetes mellitus. The importance of a comprehensive and consistent assessment of the cardio-vascular system of a diabetic person is emphasised. Mortality and morbidity statistics related to cardio-vascular changes that occur in people with diabetes mellitus are discussed. The risks of myocardial infarction ‘Heart Attacks’ in people with diabetes mellitus is discussed at length. This is an interactive and informative session. Michelle Robins is a Credentialed Diabetes Educator with over 16 years experience in many aspects of diabetes care and education. Michelle currently works as a Diabetes Nurse Educator (DNE) in rural Victoria. Her past employment has involved working in diabetes care and education within large and small, public and private hospitals, and community settings. Michelle’s comprehensive and varied practice is reflected in her depth of knowledge and understanding of diabetes. Michelle Robins is an endorsed Nurse Practitioner – Diabetes.
