This lecture provides information about how to safely transfer seriously ill or injured children. Factors to consider in preparation of a child for transfer and the main risks associated with transferring a child are identified and discussed. Strategies to prevent transfer morbidities are provided. The need to stabilise the child’s or infants condition prior to transferring is emphasised in this lecture. Considerations when deciding on the mode of transport and the need for appropriate family involvement are discussed. This session will explore concepts such as:
