Performing Formal Psychiatric Nursing AssessmentsThis lecture provides an overview of the instance of diagnosed mental illness in Australia. Crisis is defined and functional and dysfunctional coping mechanisms discussed. Crisis assessment is discussed. The need for a debrief session for nurses involved in the crisis and support of staff following a crisis situation is emphasised. The concept of perception is discussed. Hallucination is described and differentiated from the concept of illusion. This is a highly interactive session. The main concepts explored in this session are:
