How to Prevent Pressure Sores in Frail and Elderly PeopleThis lecture provides information about how to prevent pressure sores. It outlines the terms used to describe different types of pressure sores. Not only does it discuss what to look for and identify when assessing the potential for the development of a pressure sore in frail and elderly people, it also emphasises the importance of engaging the occupational therapist in the care of elderly clients at risk of developing pressure sores. Skin care and the use of equipment and devices to relieve pressure are also referenced.
