Guardianship and Administration Act: What is Guardianship?
This lecture provides information about the role and legal responsibilities of the Public Advocate when elderly persons are unable to make decisions because of cognitive impairments. The guardianship and administration act is defined. The guardianship and administration act are described and discussed in four major parts. Limited guardianship and plenary guardianship are defined. Financial administration is discussed. Power of attorney and legal Wills are briefly discussed. This is a short informative lecture.

Peter Cooper is a solicitor with considerable experience. Peter is a registered nurse who works within general, psychiatric and aged care settings. In 2004, Peter qualified as a lawyer and was articled to the Melbourne legal firm, Harding and Co. where he is still employed. Peter maintains his nursing registration through working regular shifts with a nursing agency. In his teaching role, Peter is well informed and passionate about health law and allied issues.
