Female Circumcision, Vulvodynia and Genital TraumaThis lecture provides information on vulval and vaginal health and obstetric challenges for practicing midwives. Adverse vulvo-vaginal conditions which influence clinical decisions are described in detail. The current best–practice treatment for lower genital tract infection, commonly seen in pregnant women, is discussed and case studies presented to clarify key factors. The major considerations when infibulation is in situ in the birthing mother are discussed. This is a highly informative lecture.
Speaker: Dr Graeme Dennerstein Dr Graeme Dennerstein is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with medical expertise in the health of the vulva and vagina. He is the former Head of the Dermo-gynaecology Clinic at The Mercy Hosptial for Women, Melbourne, Australia, and co- author of the book entitled: “The Vulva and Vagina Manual “. Dr Dennerstein has lectured extensively on this topic, both internationally and nationally.
