The high instance of death related to ‘pressure ulcers’ and the seriousness of what, is a mainly preventable occurrence, is discussed. What causes pressures ulcers and how to predict there occurrence are also addressed. Ethical considerations especially, whether all pressure ulcers should be treated are also debated. Tracy Nowicki is employed as a clinical nurse consultant in the principle items equipment service at a major public hospital in Queensland.  Tracy has acquired extensive clinical expertise and management knowledge whilst working across a number of clinical specialties.  Tracy has a special interest in wound care and expert nursing knowledge and understanding of the prevention of pressure ulcers and the nursing care of a person with a pressure ulcer.
