Key Issues in Infection Control Today - Avian Influenza
This session identifies the continuing threat of further mutations within viruses particularly the influenza virus. (Other virus mutations will also be discussed). This is the major concern currently facing infection prevention and control. A number of fatal, new influenza viruses have been identified. However, they are not easily transmitted from one person to another. The main concernĀ is that theĀ influenza virus will become easily transmissible. This is a highly interactive and thought provoking session.
The main concepts explored in this session are:
- The importance of immunisation for nurses
- Pandemic
- Emergency services
- Standard precautions
