Diabetes Mellitus: Increased Risk of Health Related ProblemsThis session discusses differing health related problems that can occur in people diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus. Hypoglycaemia and the differing manifestations of this event are described. The importance and ability to avoid experiencing hypoglycaemic events is discussed fully. Cardiovascular and endocrine conditions related to poor control of Diabetes Mellitus are described. The impact of experiencing ‘hypo’s’ on intimate relationships is analysed and the fear of loss and control discussed. This is an interactive and practical session. Michelle Robins is a Credentialed Diabetes Educator with over 16 years experience in many aspects of diabetes care and education. Michelle currently works as a Diabetes Nurse Educator ( DNE ) in rural Victoria. Her past employment has involved working in diabetes care and education within large and small, public and private hospitals, and community settings.
