Chapter 13: Parkinson's Disease and Brain Attack
Parkinson’s disease and stroke are common conditions responsible both directly and indirectly for significant morbidity and mortality. This chapter outlines the principles of management of these conditions occurring in ageing people living in the community.
Michael J Murray Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Consultant Geriatrician and Manager of In-patient Services - Medical, St George’s Health Service, and on staff at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne. Michael has a strong belief in the importance of the hospital–community interface and is involved in chairing a number of committees including Uniting Care Community Options, the Lynden Aged Care Association and the Victorian branch of the Australian Association of Gerontology. Michael also has a deep interest in continence and is Director of the Regional Continence Service, Chairperson of the Continence Foundation of Australia (Victorian branch) and Chairperson of the Continence Physicians Interest Group — a special interest group of the Australian Society of Geriatric Medicine. |
