Chapter 5: Foot Care Overview:
Foot problems are a common accompaniment of advancing age and are associated with impaired mobility, limited independence and diminished quality of life. Despite the significant impact that foot problems have on the lives of older people, these problems can easily be overlooked by medical and nursing staff.
Hylton Menz Hylton Menz graduated with a bachelor’s degree in podiatry from La Trobe University (Victoria, Australia) in 1993, and more recently completed his PhD at the Prince of Wales Medical Research Institute (New South Wales, Australia) investigating gait patterns in older people. He has worked as a lecturer at La Trobe University and the University of Western Sydney (New South Wales, Australia). Hylton is currently NHMRC Australian Clinical Research Fellow at the Musculoskeletal Research Centre at La Trobe University. |
